Nonprofits & NGOs

Drupal platforms for small teams with long horizons and a budget the board has to approve.

A nonprofit site has to raise money on the night of the appeal, hold up when a story goes wide, and cost the same next year as this year. We build it on Drupal, publish it as static files that cost almost nothing to run, and give the board one number it can approve.

  • Donation and campaign pages that hold under a surge

What a nonprofit platform has to do

Take a donation at nine on the night of the appeal, when everyone arrives at once. Tell the story in plain language to a donor, a volunteer, a journalist and a grant officer, each on a different device. Work for the supporter who uses a screen reader. And do all of it on a budget that was set a year ago by people who will ask, line by line, what the hosting is for.

What we do for nonprofits

We build Drupal platforms for nonprofits and NGOs and publish them as static files on an edge network, so there is no public server to patch and the hosting bill is close to nothing. Donation and campaign pages run as small edge functions that absorb a surge. The CMS stays private for the two people who edit. We keep the site at WCAG 2.2 AA, because a supporter turned away is a donor lost, and we set a fixed monthly number for running it that a board can approve once.

How we work with small teams

An audit of what exists and what it costs, in writing the board can read. Then a content model built around the stories, programs and appeals you actually publish, a design system that holds the brand without a designer on staff, a rehearsed move, and training for the editors. After launch, security releases inside the advisory window and a named engineer, on a retainer sized for a small team.

Why now

Drupal 10 reaches end of life on December 9, 2026, and a nonprofit site on an old version is a site nobody is patching. Static delivery has become cheap and ordinary, which turns a hosting line the board questions every year into one it can forget. And the supporters who find you now often ask an AI engine first, which cites the organizations whose pages are structured and plainly written.

I want to

take donations that hold on the night of the appeal

A donation page that stays up when everyone arrives at once, built as a small edge function in front of your payment processor, with card data that never touches your server.

  • Payment through hosted fields; nothing sensitive on your side
  • Load tested at the peak you expect, not the average
  • A thank-you and receipt flow the finance team signed off

cut the hosting bill to almost nothing

A private CMS and a static public site remove the server, the database and most of the bill. What is left is a number a board can approve once.

  • A fit audit: what the site does, what can go static, what needs an edge function
  • The public server retired, the CMS made private
  • One monthly figure, in writing

make the site accessible to every supporter

WCAG 2.2 AA in the theme and the editorial rules, so the two people who edit cannot break it, and a statement you can publish.

  • An audit in plain language, with the gaps ranked
  • Fixes at the source, so they hold
  • An accessibility statement and a feedback path

get off an old Drupal before it bites

A site on Drupal 7 or an early 10 is a site nobody is patching. We migrate the stories, programs and donors' pages onto a supported platform.

  • An audit of what exists and what is at risk
  • A content model built around your appeals and programs
  • Redirects for every old URL

make the Ad Grant count

Grant-funded search ads land on pages that have to load fast, read plainly and say what to do next. We build the landing pages and measure what they do.

  • Landing pages built for the ad, with one clear action
  • Structured data and plain language, so search and AI engines cite you
  • Analytics that answer whether the grant raised money

keep it running with two people

A retainer sized for a small team: security releases applied inside the window, a named engineer, and a quarterly check that nothing has quietly broken.

  • Security releases inside the advisory window
  • A named engineer who answers
  • A quarterly review, in writing
How it runs

A nonprofit platform, from audit to a number the board can approve

Short, and mostly automated once it is built. Decisions above the line, the steps that run on every build below.

01 A decision, made with you: Audit: what exists, what it costs, what is at risk
02 A decision, made with you: Content model around appeals, programs and stories
03 Runs on every build: Site built to WCAG 2.2 AA and published as static files
04 Runs on every build: Donation and campaign pages as edge functions, load tested
05 A decision, made with you: Editors trained, content reviewed, then live
06 Runs on every build: Patch schedule, quarterly review, one monthly number

The night of the appeal is rehearsed before it happens. The hosting line is the same next year.

What is changing

What is changing for nonprofits

Checked on google.com/grants, w3.org and drupal.org on September 12, 2026.

  1. Static delivery is cheap and ordinary

A private CMS and a static public site remove the server and most of the hosting bill. The board's hardest line becomes its easiest.

  2. Drupal 10 ends in December

December 9, 2026, alongside the planned release of Drupal 12. A site nobody is patching is the one risk a small team cannot afford.

  3. Supporters ask AI first

AI answer engines cite organizations whose pages are structured, canonical and plainly written. The same work makes the Ad Grant landing pages convert.

  4. Accessibility is a fundraising question

WCAG 2.2 is the version funders and partners ask about, and a supporter who cannot complete the form is a donation lost.

Services for nonprofits

The three most organizations buy first.

  • Static & edge delivery

Editors work in Drupal as always; on publish the site becomes plain files on a content delivery network, so the public never touches a server, a database or a login form. Almost nothing to attack, pages from the nearest edge, and this very site is built this way.

    Horizon · In progress

  • Drupal development

New builds, major-version upgrades, module and theme work, and migrations from Drupal 7 onward. Every site we build is one we can keep patched, accessible and on a supported version for years, because that is the job after launch.

  • Accessibility & AI visibility

Accessibility fixed at the source, in the theme and the editorial rules, with a conformance report you can hand to procurement. The same work makes your pages the ones AI engines cite.
